The Hyper GT is the inaugural mass-production model from GAC Group’s premium new energy vehicle (NEV) marque, Hyper, officially debuting in July 2023. Positioned as an executive pure electric four-door coupe, it is built on GAC’s dedicated AEP 3.0 EV architecture and marks the brand's strategic first chapter following its transition to standalone operations. On 30 October 2025, the all-new Hyper GT Lite variant was launched, available in two CLTC-rated range variants of 560 km and 630 km, priced at RM153,800 and RM158,800 respectively. The debut of the Lite variant signals the brand’s aggressive price repositioning strategy to penetrate the fiercely contested RM150,000 to RM200,000 EV sedan segment, going head-to-head against rivals like the BYD Seal, Deepal SL03, and Leapmotor C01.

Design Language
The exterior styling of the Hyper GT is sculpted around the core design philosophy of "Wind and Water Rising", delivering a fluid, liquid-metal aesthetic that mimics dynamic hurricane motion. Up front, it features a closed-off aero grille paired with sleek, aggressive headlamp clusters that exude a sharp, high-tech presence. Along the sides, the fastback coupe profile is complemented by flush pop-out door handles and a streamlined roofline, yielding an ultra-low drag coefficient of just 0.197 Cd—an industry-leading benchmark.
Dimensionally, the Hyper GT measures 4,886 mm in length, 1,885 mm in width (1,917 mm for select variants), and 1,449 mm in height, anchored by a generous 2,920 mm wheelbase that firmly places it in executive sedan territory. Despite its wide-body stance and low-slung proportions, the Hyper GT boasts a turning radius of just 5.3 metres, offering segment-defying manoeuvrability in tight city alleys and narrow parking spaces.
At the rear, the car sports ultra-slim full-width LED tail lights and an aggressive rear diffuser integrated into the bumper to accentuate its sporty character. Notably, range-topping variants come equipped with an active retractable electric rear spoiler and signature upward-opening "Wind Dance" dihedral scissor doors—a standout visual highlight of the Hyper GT. While the Lite variant omits the scissor doors, its striking four-door coupe silhouette and design DNA remain entirely intact, offering immense aftermarket customisation potential for owners to personalise their ride through light modifications.
Inside, the Hyper GT adopts a clean, tech-forward minimalist layout. The horizontal dashboard houses a full digital instrument cluster alongside a large floating central touchscreen infotainment display, paired with a column-mounted electronic gear selector for an uncluttered centre console. Higher-spec variants further elevate the cabin with premium amenities, including Nappa leather upholstery and an audiophile-grade sound system.
Powertrain and Performance
The 2025 Hyper GT Lite is powered by GAC’s proprietary Quark Electric Drive architecture, featuring a rear-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor as standard across the range. It puts out a maximum output of 180 kW (approximately 245 PS / 241 hp) and 355 Nm of peak torque. The electric motor utilises advanced multi-channel parallel cooling technology, enhancing thermal efficiency by 70% with 100% full-surface stator and rotor cooling for superior sustained performance and heat dissipation.
On the battery front, the 560 km variant is fitted with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack from CALB, while the 630 km variant adopts a ternary lithium (NMC) + LFP hybrid battery setup (sourced from CALB / EVE Energy). Packing a 70 kWh capacity with an energy consumption rating of 12.5 kWh/100 km, the car delivers CLTC-rated electric ranges of 560 km and 630 km respectively. The battery pack is integrated with a liquid-cooling thermal management system, backed by an unlimited-year / unlimited-mileage warranty for the first owner (subject to official terms and conditions).
Furthermore, the 630 Lite variant gains upgraded front four-piston fixed brake calipers for enhanced stopping power. The Hyper GT completes the 0-100 km/h century sprint in 6.5 seconds, on to a top speed of 180 km/h.
Chassis and Handling
Underpinned by the dedicated AEP 3.0 pure electric architecture, the Hyper GT employs a rear-motor, rear-wheel-drive (RWD) layout with a near-perfect 50:50 front-to-rear axle weight distribution. The suspension setup features high-spec front double-wishbones and a rear five-link independent suspension—a benchmark configuration typical of premium sports sedans, balancing razor-sharp handling precision with refined ride comfort.
In terms of chassis tuning, the Hyper GT comes equipped as standard with ASTC (Active System Traction Control) and CST (Comfort Stop Technology), effectively bolstering cornering stability and mitigating nose-dive under braking to achieve a composed "zero-slip in corners, zero-braking through bends" dynamic feel. Steering is managed via an electric power steering (EPS) rack, while rolling stock consists of 235/45 R19 tyres paired with a tyre repair kit (no spare tyre provided). Braking duties are handled by ventilated discs up front and solid discs at the rear, linked to an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto Hold.
Cabin and Features
The cabin equipment of the 2025 Hyper GT Lite is curated for practicality. Driver information is conveyed via an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, accompanied by a 14.6-inch central touchscreen running the ADiGO intelligent infotainment OS driven by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor. It supports 4G connectivity, Amap navigation, intelligent voice control (multimedia/navigation/telephony/climate control), and over-the-air (OTA) updates, with "Hello, Baby" as the default voice prompt.
In terms of creature comforts, standard appointments include synthetic leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, automatic climate control, rear air vents, and a fixed panoramic glass roof. Up front, a single USB Type-C port is provided, alongside a standard audio speaker setup. Selected trims add front seat heating and ventilation, while the rear bench features 60:40 split-folding functionality to expand cargo capacity, supplementing the 450-litre rear boot with a 51-litre front trunk (frunk).
Compared to flagship trims, the Lite variant trims non-essential luxury and advanced hardware—such as the roof-mounted LiDAR unit and premium audio system—to achieve a much more accessible price tag, while leaving core mechanical underpinnings and baseline safety features fully intact.
Safety and Driver Assistance
For active safety, the Hyper GT Lite comes comprehensively equipped across the board with electronic driver aids, including Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Traction Control System (TCS), Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
On the passive safety front, the entire Hyper GT range has achieved a five-star C-NCAP safety rating and an all-"Good" (G) rating in the C-IASI crash test index, courtesy of a high-strength safety cage passenger cell. Battery safety is anchored by GAC's proprietary Magazine Battery technology, which boasts a proven track record of over one million installations with zero spontaneous combustion incidents, ensuring the entire pack remains free from fire or explosion even under extreme conditions. Furthermore, the battery architecture already complies with China's upcoming 2025 mandatory national battery safety standards ahead of time.
In the advanced driver assistance (ADAS) department, the Hyper GT Lite is equipped with the Hyper Pilot Level 2 suite. Hardware includes an NVIDIA Drive Orin-X computing platform (254 TOPS processing capacity) working with an array of cameras and millimetre-wave radars. Supported functions include Full-Speed Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), a 360-degree surround-view camera, Navigation on Highway (highway pilot assist), and Navigation on City (urban pilot assist). However, as the Lite variant dispenses with the roof-mounted LiDAR, certain high-tier autonomous driving functions are scaled back compared to top-spec grades.
Market Performance and Verdict
Since its debut in 2023, the Hyper GT has carved out a solid niche in the pure EV coupe market on the back of its dynamic styling, proprietary Magazine Battery technology, and robust AEP 3.0 platform fundamentals. The rollout of the Lite variant in October 2025 marks a pivotal strategic shift for the marque—introducing an executive-sized electric coupe into the sub-RM160k bracket with an entry price of RM153,800, creating an asymmetric competitive edge of "executive dimensions + sports coupe performance + accessible pricing".
Against same-price rivals, the Hyper GT stands out with compelling unique selling points, including its generous 2,920 mm wheelbase, premium double-wishbone and multi-link suspension architecture, and the Magazine Battery’s spotless zero-combustion safety record. Its primary market competitors include the BYD Seal, Deepal SL03, and Leapmotor C01.
To sweeten the deal, the manufacturer offers four major launch entitlements: a lifetime warranty on the EV powertrain ("three-electric" components), a 6-year or 150,000 km whole-vehicle manufacturer warranty, lifetime complimentary 24/7 roadside assistance, and a lifetime complimentary in-car data package.
On the whole, as GAC Group’s strategic spearhead in the premium EV arena, the Hyper GT democratises the executive coupe segment down to the RM150,000 territory under the banner of "performance equality", presenting a well-rounded package. The Lite variant adopts a shrewd strategy of retaining uncompromising driving dynamics and baseline safety while cutting extraneous frills to deliver robust core engineering at an attractive price point. Nonetheless, Hyper still has ground to cover in terms of brand equity and the completeness of high-tier autonomous features. For younger buyers prioritising driving pleasure, safety integrity, and genuine mechanical hardware over brand prestige, the Hyper GT Lite presents itself as a compelling contender in the RM150k electric coupe segment.
